Prices under test

ClickUp is testing its pricing. ClickUp's pricing page carries two plan grids and shows one per visitor (data-testid 'pricing-control' / 'pricing-variant'); its help articles say 'Some Workspaces see a new set of plans that include more ClickUp AI.' The test is between AI as a paid add-on and AI credits bundled into new seat plans.

  • Control — AI as an add-on. Brain AI add-on $14/user/mo month-to-month ($9 yearly) with 1,500 credits; Everything AI $33 ($28 yearly) with 5,000 credits; on top of the existing seat plans
  • Variant — credits bundled into seat plans. Core $12/user/mo ($8 yearly) with 1,000 credits; Business $25 ($17 yearly) with 1,500; Enterprise custom with 3,000; MAX $120 ($100 yearly) with 10,000 — all per user per month, pooled

What the Index uses: Control. With two arms there is no middle; control is the model every ClickUp help article documents. The $10 per 10,000 credits top-up is the same in both arms.

  1. Jan 2025 Rung 1 · Bundled
  2. Jan 2026 → now Rung 3 · Hard allotment Brain AI $9 '+1,500 AI Super Credits' and Everything AI $28 '+5,000' cards first archived 10 Jan 2026 (absent 6 Jan); hard stop at 100% per help centre

Moved across the continuum this window — pattern: Incumbent bolt-on.

The short version A usage meter was bolted onto a seat you already pay for — the subscription is no longer the whole bill.

The verdict

ClickUp Brain entered 2025 as a flat seat add-on. The 3 January 2025 pricing page offered it as "Add to any paid plan for $7/user/mo", and the 11 January 2025 AI page headlined "the world's most complete work AI for $7 per month"; neither stated an allowance or a top-up, and a 10 September 2024 help article said "there are no usage limits for ClickUp AI". It stayed credit-free through the 2 July and 7 October 2025 snapshots. The phrase "AI Super Credit" first appears on 3 January 2026, inside a "Super Fair Billing policy" block. The metered add-ons arrived on the 10 January 2026 snapshot (absent 6 January): Brain AI at $9 per user/month with "+1,500 AI Super Credits", Everything AI at $28 with "+5,000 AI Super Credits", and the top-up rate "$0.001 $10 for 10,000 credits". The help centre (archived 11 July 2026) makes the ceiling real: just over 100% of usage, credit-backed features stop until the next month unless admins buy more or enable opt-in overage protection. The 10 October 2026 capture shows the same $9/$28 yearly ($14/$33 monthly), 1,500/5,000 credits and $10-per-10,000 top-up, with "unlimited" fair-use claims on the chat features alongside the metered agents.

What changed

No dated repricing events are itemized for ClickUp in this edition's log (the pricing history is in the verdict above). New moves are added to the change log as they're captured.

Where it's headed

The opt-in "Avoid interruption" overage toggle already exists in the product (help centre, 11 July 2026), so the next move is making auto-recharge the default rather than an opt-in, or raising credit burn on Super Agents while the $9/$28 stickers hold; the A/B-tested Brain² grid with pooled credits is the other open door.
