The short version The pricing model has not moved on the continuum over the window.

The verdict

Copy.ai did not move on the metering axis — it entered the window at a hard-allotment credit model and stayed there. The product is two layers: unlimited words in chat (a genuine soft meter) and workflow credits (a fixed monthly limit per workspace, no rollover, expandable only by buying more), where the real AI cost lives. The workflow-credit ceiling was already live before January 2025. The two changes that did happen in 2025 were structural, not rung-level: between mid and late 2025 Copy.ai dropped its low-end self-serve tiers and replaced the entry point with a flat, un-metered Chat plan at $29/mo, while retaining the metered Growth tiers. In October 2025 Fullcast acquired the company. The pricing model — seats plus a hard workflow-credit allotment — is essentially unchanged across the window.

What changed

  • Sep 1, 2025 · Policy change · Self-serve tier consolidation (occurred between the Jun 2, 2025 snapshot showing Free/Starter/Advanced and the Sep 2, 2025 snapshot showing none of them): Free, Starter $49, and Advanced $249 dropped; entry point replaced by a flat un-metered 'Chat' plan at $29/mo (5 seats, unlimited words, NO workflow credits). Metered Growth/Expansion/Scale tiers retained — no change to the credit-allotment mechanic. (archive)

Where it's headed

If anything shifts, expect the metered workflow tiers to gain auto-billed overage rather than the model to loosen — but the credit ceiling has held through an acquisition, so inertia is the base case.
