  2. Sep 2025 → now Rung 3 · Hard allotment Launched credit-metered with hard-stop at zero balance

Born mid-window, usage-priced from launch — pattern: Leapfrog.

The short version It was born usage-priced, standing beside the seat business rather than replacing it.

The verdict

Emergent is a leapfrog born inside the window. In January 2025 the only thing carrying the name was an unrelated code-intelligence tool with no public pricing and no meter; the current vibe-coding app builder did not yet exist. It launched on September 24, 2025 alongside a $23M raise, credit-metered from day one — Standard $20/100 credits, Pro $200/750, Team $300/1,250 shared, plus an Enterprise 'unlimited' tier and $10/50-credit top-ups that never expire. The meter genuinely bites: at a zero balance, development pauses until you renew or top up, and the agent asks whether to continue, raise the cap, or stop. Rather than walk a seat product rightward, Emergent stood up a usage-priced product at a hard allotment and has held there.

  • Sep 24, 2025 · Meter adopted · Launch-day pricing bundle (app.emergent.sh) confirms the credit meter and tier numbers: Standard $20/100cr, Pro $200/750cr, Team $300/1250 shared, Enterprise 'Unlimited credits & higher limits' — i.e. the product was born metered at a hard allotment (rung 3). Where it's headed

Born at a hard allotment, the natural drift is toward auto-billed overage as heavy users hit the wall, but expect tier and credit-pack tuning rather than a jump to metered overage near-term.
