The verdict

Leonardo.Ai has not moved on the continuum since January 2025 — a hard allotment at both ends of the window. It runs a Fast-Token meter where almost every action carries a token cost (Essential $12 / Premium $30 / Ultimate $60 monthly tokens; Free a hard 150/day), and the four-tier structure predates the window unchanged. The defining mechanic is a hard ceiling with no auto-billed overage on any subscription plan; running out means waiting for the next cycle, drawing down the Rollover Bank (a July 2024 softening), or upgrading. A soft edge exists — Premium and Ultimate grant unlimited Relaxed Generation on Leonardo's own models — but Free, Essential, and all premium third-party models stay hard-stopped. The 2025–2026 developments are additive model launches priced into the same meter.

What changed

  • Jul 5, 2024 · Policy change · Leonardo introduced Token Rollover for paid plans: unused Fast Tokens bank into a 'Rollover Bank' capped at ~3x the monthly allotment (Essential 25,500 / Premium 75,000 / Ultimate 180,000 max), softening the monthly hard ceiling without removing it. Announced 2024-07-05.

Where it's headed

The model has been stable for two years; the likeliest change is continued catalog expansion priced into the existing meter rather than a rung move, though the soft Relaxed-Generation edge on top tiers could be revisited either direction.
