  1. Jan 2025 Rung 4 · Metered overage
  2. Now Rung 4 · Metered overage

Held one rung all window — pattern: Credit burn-rate reprice.

The short version The sticker barely moved — but the meter did. The same work costs more than it used to.

The verdict

Devin has sat at metered overage since its December 2024 general availability — an included allowance plus a running meter that auto-bills rather than hard-stopping — and it did not change rungs across the window. What it did was reprice the meter twice. In April 2025, Devin 2.0 added a no-minimum pay-as-you-go entry plan that slashed the starting barrier while quietly lifting the per-unit ACU price. Then on April 14, 2026 Cognition replaced the entire ACU vocabulary with dollar-denominated on-demand credits and restructured self-serve into Free / Pro $20 / Max $200 / Teams, discontinuing the no-minimum plan. Throughout, the defining mechanic held: an allowance plus a meter that bills above it. The recurring theme is repricing and re-denominating the unit at a stable rung.

What changed

  • Apr 14, 2026 · Credit burn-rate repricing · Cognition launches new self-serve plans (Free / Pro $20 / Max $200 / Teams $80 minimum), replaces ACUs with dollar-denominated on-demand credits, and discontinues the no-minimum Core PAYG plan; included quota now refreshes daily/weekly and overage auto-bills in dollars.
  • Apr 3, 2025 · Price change · Devin 2.0: Cognition adds a no-minimum pay-as-you-go 'Core' plan with a $20 starting minimum at $2.25/ACU (a hike from $2.00 on the $500 Team plan), cutting the entry barrier ~96% while keeping the $500/mo Team plan and the metered-overage model.

Where it's headed

Having re-based the meter from ACUs to dollars, the gravity points toward further unit-cost adjustments at the same overage rung rather than a structural rung change.
